Raise Your Spirits on the Radio

Yesterday I was on the radio talking about Raise Your Spirits and the newest show JUDGE! which will appear in Jerusalem on June 12th at the Gerard Behar Theater. Info: http://www.raiseyourspirits.org/ .

It's the tenth anniversary of Raise Your Spirits, so it's extra-special for me to talk about the beginnings of the company and how it's developed over the past decade.

On Judy Simon's show "Lifestyles" on Israel National Radio:

On Rafi Poch's show on Rusty Mike Radio:

Judy is a real personality in the Bet El region. A teacher and radio host, she even spearheaded a program to train Bet El residents to guide folks through their community. Great idea!

Rafi is a theater director and just began his own theater show on the radio.

I did my best on both radio shows, but I didn't know until I was actually on radio, that it's not as easy at it looks, and as I told my friend, "As soon as the red light goes on, suddenly your brain is a sieve."

So, although everyone said I did a good job (thanks, everyone), I forgot to mention two very important people to Raise Your Spirits - Rivka Hatten who wrote the music for ESTHER and the Secrets in the King's Court and Mitch Clyman who served as our composer and arranger for NOAH! Ride the Wave!, RUTH & NAOMI in the Fields of Bethlehem, some songs in In Search of Courage and JUDGE! The Song of Devora.

Both Rivka and Mitch are talented, fabulous composers, who brought our words to life musically.

My thanks to them always.

Great New Video by Micah Smith

Every week I could probably send out another post, "Great new video by Micah Smith." He's a talented prolific videographer. I am a humongous fan of Micah. Many of his clips can be found on aish.com.

This clip is from there as well. It's a fun lip sing clip for Israel's Independence Day. And it stole my heart because it features some of the women of Raise Your Spirits. It even includes some women wearing wigs from RYS' latest production, "JUDGE! The Song of Devora."

Keep your eyes peeled for RYS' Donna Zeff (Micah Smith is her son-in-law), her daughter Tehilla and RYS' Yael Valier (JUDGE! co-writer with Toby Klein Greenwald).
